A couple things on my mind... Social strategy, Sleep Recipe, and Black Sheep

Hey folks!

Happy Friday! A couple things on my mind...

1. Social Strategy: I watched this video on Nathan Barry Podcast this week sharing a super clear framework for thinking about types of social content that drives traffic into your funnel. I’ve shared the GAP framework before (Generally Appealing, Authority, Personal), and this is in the same vein but adds a measurement layer I really liked. Her breakdown:

- Entertain: 65% of content, measure success by shares

- Educate: 20% of content, measure by saves

- Showcase: 10% of content, measured by likes

- Invite: 5% of content, measure by leads/ purchases

It feels especially relevant for Instagram. Worth watching.

2. Sleep Recipe: I’ve talked with multiple friends this week about insomnia, so it must be that time of year again. I'm sharing my sleep recipe here because I know how brutal bad sleep can be. I’ve noticed people always hit a rough patch in Q4 when the days get short, movement drops, and work pressure climbs. I’ve been open about my own struggles, so if you have questions, ask anything.

3. Stopping the "Black Sheep Effect" in Family: I hosted this podcast last week with friends about preventing any child from feeling like the odd one out. My big takeaway: if you notice distance growing between you and a child, that’s the signal to turn toward them with more time, more connection, more truth, and more love. We recorded several episodes on winning your kids’ hearts and I’m doing another round next month, so feel free to subscribe if you want to follow along.

Best,

Blake

P.S. If you haven’t planned your annual family retreat yet, do it now. It will change your whole year. The course walks you through everything step by step.

Hey folks! Happy Thanksgiving! A couple things on my mind... 1. Mental Toughness: Anyone listen to the Hormozi episode this week on mental toughness? He breaks down mental toughness into 4 components - I'll give a hypothetical example of a parent with a strong willed 3 year old as a very hypothetical example (ha): - Tolerance: How long can you endure opposition before you change your behavior? (How long can you endure 3yo's acting out before you react.) - Fortitude: How much do you alter your...

Hey Folks! Happy Friday! A couple things on my mind… 1. ChatGPT Atlas Browser: Anybody else using Atlas? It’s Open AI’s web browser and in my pursuit of using AI as my “operating system” it has been super helpful. It also has agentic stuff built in. For example, I can tell it to start every email in my inbox that needs a reply, then go chop wood for 10 minutes while it does that. Pretty great, give it a shot. 2. Backing Off Coffee: A couple weeks ago I started getting persistent heartburn and...

Hey Folks! Happy Friday! You doin good? If we haven't met feel free to reply and say "hey." A couple things on my mind... 1. Marketing Calendar vs. Weekly Growth Meetings: I’ve been fractionally leading marketing for about 6 years, and my core thesis has always been to operate on a 7-day cycle where early growth is measured week by week. The issue is that this weekly lens leaves out marketing-calendar moments like Black Friday or big launches, so I’d drop reminders into our weekly sheet but...
