A couple things on my mind... mental toughness, coming of age, and proverbs for a $

Hey folks!

Happy Thanksgiving! A couple things on my mind...

1. Mental Toughness: Anyone listen to the Hormozi episode this week on mental toughness? He breaks down mental toughness into 4 components - I'll give a hypothetical example of a parent with a strong willed 3 year old as a very hypothetical example (ha):

- Tolerance: How long can you endure opposition before you change your behavior? (How long can you endure 3yo's acting out before you react.)
 - Fortitude: How much do you alter your behavior under opposition? (Take a deep breath and step outside for a sec vs. snap and yell)
- Resilience: How quickly do you return to your desired state? (Immediately back to normal vs. brood for half a day)
 - Adaptability: Do you improve or decline as a result? (Build a plan to train proactively to avoid this circumstance in the future vs. just resent your child going forward)

It was a helpful conversation for Chandler and I to talk about where our biggest opportunity for improvement is across these 4. For me it's resilience - I'd love to bounce back quicker when I'm thrown off. You?

2. Coming Of Age For Daughters (Help): Chandler and I are planning the coming of age process for our daughter Charleston (she just turned 12). Our general mindset is that she’s now entering a period of “apprenticeship” under Chandler where she’ll be copying and pasting how Chandler lives - spiritual habits, exercise, social life, responsibilities, etc. We want to kick it off with a mother daughter trip. Anyone know of a pre packaged option for mothers and daughters (like The Quarry Project for boys) or had a good experience creating your own?

3. Proverbs For A Dollar: Each morning I read the Proverb of the day (e.g. today is Proverbs 28) with whichever kid goes to work with me. It’s simple, super practical, and loaded with wisdom. Last week I added a new challenge: Anytime a kid cites a Proverb in a real life moment, I owe them a dollar. For example last night we stayed out too late, one kid was losing it, and Everett leans over and goes, “Folly is bound up in the heart of a child.” Boom. A dollar. Proverbs are basically Seinfeld quotes. Once you start looking, you see them everywhere.

That's it for this week! Enjoy your weekend!

Best,

Blake

Hey Folks! Happy Friday! A couple things on my mind... 1. Manus: This is the first AI tool I've genuinely thought "maybe I should keep this to myself." (Credit to my friend Lucas Cole for the tip.) Like OpenClaw, Manus spins up multiple AI agents to complete compound tasks from a single goal. If this sounds confusing, this video gives a solid overview of the shift toward agents and how to work with Manus specifically. Real example: I had a weak landing page on kit.com where many of you signed...

Hey folks! Happy Friday! A couple things on my mind... 1. Stag Hunt: I heard Naval talk about this idea somewhere, and I can't stop thinking about it. It's an idea in game theory where hunters are presented with a choice: hunt for hares on their own to feed themselves, or team up together and take down a stag that can feed the whole village. I'm noticing there are a TON of my network (myself included) doing fine hunting hares consulting / doing fractional work, but I can't shake the desire to...

Hey folks! I'm on day 6 of single dad of 5 kids, and we're making it! (specifically thanks to my parents' help) A couple things on my mind... 1. OpenClaw: I promise I think about stuff other than AI, but this one's too good. OpenClaw is a free AI agent that can actually DO STUFF on your computer and browser - API directly into your social media, email, you name it. My favorite use case: twice a day it scans my inbox, sorts everything into junk, FYI, and needs-a-response, I tell it what to do,...
