A couple things on my mind...

Hey Folks,

Happy Friday from Nashville! I’ve been speaking at the Integrated mastermind group all this week - absolutely amazing hearing from folks about entrepreneurship, family, faith, and how to live a life that combines and maximizes all three. Here are my main new ideas and takeaways I got from the week. Special Integrated edition, a couple of things on my mind…

1. Radically Accept Your Wife/Children: Unlike business, your family organization is one where you start with WHO, then figure out WHAT. Because of that, you have to get curious as to why God gave you this spouse, this son, this daughter. We obviously want to challenge our children to rise to their potential, but you have to start by radically accepting that these are the people you were intended to have.

2. Becoming A Safe Person To Be Close With: The biggest limiter to your relationships with your kids as you get older, is how safe you are to be in close relationship with. If you want to be safe to be in relationship with others, you need:
- The humility to admit when you’re wrong
- The humility to ask for forgiveness
- The grace to extend forgiveness to those who wrong you
- The grace to show affection to those who have angered you

3. Ugly Crying In Traffic: OK this one wasn’t from the mastermind, but I got rocked by a 28-minute podcast episode this week while I was driving around Nashville. My friend Troy’s dad has ALS, and the two of them host a podcast where they interview incredible people together. (His dad was an NFL player and famous broadcaster, so they’ve reconstructed his voice using AI - absolutely incredible.) Well this latest episode was absolutely incredible - rather than interview some expert, Troy and his siblings interview their dad to have him reflect on his journey as a father and his incredible career. If you disregard everything else in this newsletter today, just listen to this podcast, it was so helpful to remind me of what matters most.

That’s it for this week!

Best,

Blake

Hey folks! Happy Friday! A couple things on my mind... 1) Secret Shopping: This is just a reminder to all of you marketers and founders, we need to regularly pretend that we're a customer and go through our entire sales and onboarding process (ideally incognito or ask a friend to do it.) I did this for a client last week and there is something weird that happens when you do this - you can talk about funnels until you're blue in the face, but when you say "I called in and didn't get a call...

Hey folks! Happy Friday! A couple things on my mind... 1. Link In Bio = Dead: I've been quietly shifting a lot of my social clients away from posting a link in their bio (nobody clicks it) toward automated DM's using ManyChat. Once they're in DM's you can share more relevant content, and then over time share lead magnets. So process looks like: - They follow you - You automatically DM them and ask them if they are following for x, y, or z. - Then you send them relevant reel according to their...

Hey folks! Happy Friday! How's your bracket looking? Claude filled out mine and it's still kinda meh. A couple things on my mind... 1. Referrals 101: We're trying to generate more referrals for one of my CMO clients right now, so I have been revisiting the fundamentals of referrals. I think I read this in something from John Herman at some point, but here is the list of steps (in order): Track Referrals: If you don't know how many referrals or who's referring, you can't know if you're...
